About the Filmmaker
Nate Lessler is a Seattle-based filmmaker and editor working in documentary film. His work foregrounds structural boldness and creative juxtaposition, with particular attention to the relationship between image and time and to how atmosphere shapes a sense of place.
He edited the feature documentary Ultimate Citizens, which screened at more than 50 film festivals and won over 25 awards. He previously served as Lead Editor at an Emmy Award–winning creative agency, overseeing complex documentary and commercial productions, and has worked independently as a writer, videographer, editor, and producer for nonprofits, cultural organizations, and commercial clients.
The Seattle Earthquake Project marks his directorial debut, weaving archival research and present-day realities to examine how the Pacific Northwest lives with seismic risk.
